Everyone: An Introduction to the Writing of Ancient Egypt
This book is an excellent introduction to
Egyptian Hieroglyphics. It is a thin book and was written so people
like you and I can understand it. I found it very helpful in creating
this site. The book was reprinted by Barnes & Noble
in 1993, but is currently out of print. I have found it in the "Out
of Print" section at barnesandnoble.com.
It might also be found at used bookstores and occasionally on bookstore
clearance racks. Egyptian Grammar This book is probably the most comprehensive and
frequently cited resource for Egyptian Hieroglyphics. It was originally
published almost 80 years ago and is still in print. It is a large book
and it is not cheap ($62 at Amazon.com). This book is recommended for
the diehard Egyptologist or as a resource for clarifying confusing sources.
It can be found in college libraries and at Amazon.com.
How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs This books is an introduction to reading hieroglyphs
using artifacts in the Brittish Museum as examples. A variety of examples
introduce you to different aspects of reading hieroglyphs. It can be
found at local bookstores and at Amazon.com. Archaeological
Diggings With correspondents in Australia, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and the United Kingdom, this magazine combines current news and feature articles on Middle Eastern, Greek and Roman archaeology.
