Scot began his career in art as a science illustrator, creating pen & ink illustrations of laboratory dissections. Scot's interest in science led him to create technical illustrations for math and science textbooks. It was during this time that Scot recognized the role computers would play in illustration and graphics. He learned to use the computer and got in early on the conversion to desktop publishing while learning layout and typesetting from seasoned textbook designers. In 1994, Scot left the textbook industry to pursue work creating corporate graphics. Since then he has created designs and artwork for brochures, catalogs, web sites, packaging, trade show signage, POP displays, product sketches, PowerPoint templates and direct mail advertising. Beginning in 1998 Scot began using the internet and interactivity as an educational tool by creating the Hieroglyphs web site. Over the years, Scot developed the site and added new content as technology changed. Currently Scot is refocusing his efforts on educational design and is pursuing training himself.
